Joan's Story - A breath of fresh air—literally and figuratively—

Joan, a resilient 73-year-old, has faced a multitude of respiratory challenges over the years. Diagnosed with COPD stage 4, bronchiectasis, and asthma, she also underwent a right upper lobectomy. For a long time, Joan relied on high-dose steroids, continuous 2L oxygen, CPAP at night, and medications like Albuterol and Breztri to manage her symptoms. Despite these measures, she often found herself struggling for breath, her daily life severely impacted.

Everything changed when Joan started treatment with Tezspire in June of 2024. Tezspire (tezepelumab-ekko) is a biologic medication used as an add-on maintenance treatment for severe asthma in patients aged 12 and older. It works by blocking thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), a cytokine involved in airway inflammation, helping to prevent asthma attacks and improve lung function. Tezspire is administered as a subcutaneous injection every four weeks and is not a rescue medication.
