Mark began noticing subtle changes while he was still working. At first, it was small things—forgetting why he walked into a room, struggling to recall names and faces. Over time, these lapses became more frequent and concerning. He saw a neurologist who performed a series of tests and Amyloid Plaque was found and he was given an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

Life changed in 2013 when Dr. Hinton first experienced slurred speech, a chilling symptom that he would learn marked the onset of Myasthenia Gravis (MG). Quick action led to a diagnosis however his symptoms progressed to generalized weakness and difficulty swallowing. It wasn’t until starting Soliris in 2018 that the tide truly turned seeing improvements in his symptoms.
